Night bicycle ride [Jun. 24th, 2006|09:05 pm]

FIRST (weekly?)NIGHT RIDE
Tuesday 27 June 9.30? PM
Parking lot behind Chenery. The route is yet to be determined. I'm thinking primarily Vine neighborhood/ Oakland/ WMU campus (the hill on Wheaton will likely be included). How far do yous guys want to ride?
Bring your tail lights or come with someone who has one. Being seen rules.
Helmets encouraged. We'll be riding at night. It's your head that is on the line if something goes down...Like you and your bike.
Also, spare tubes and frame pumps are awesome. If everyone brings a tube, we should have most sizes covered and can help each other out if someone flats.

I think that's everything.

Input on route and meeting time is appreciated

For all you kalamazoo bicycle riders,
I'm putting together my first issue of a zine called "Cyclo-path" and all contributions would be appreciated.
Anything to do with bikes...from tips on bike maintenance to activism information to bike poetry to artwork...anything you'd like to contribute would be faaaabulous.

Email me at breakonthrough27@gmail.com if you are interested.

I'd also like to organize more group bike rides besides the critical mass on fridays.
Maybe a bike maintenance clinic?
Many ideas have been cycling through the air.
Let's get some more kazoo wheels turning shall we?

Electrical angst... [May. 29th, 2006|09:55 pm]

Conditions....

When bike is in On (engine on or off doesn't matter)...

Headlight works fine.
Front running lights work fine.
Turnsignals (front and rear) work fine for one side, but only blink once for the other side then lock on, even the chirpy thing still works.

Brakelight works fine from either actuator (front or rear).

Rear running lights (turnsignals and center) do not function.

All bulbs are good.

All fuses are good.

This feels like a bad ground, but twiddleing with the harness in all the obvious places yeilds nothing.

HELP!

Tune-Up and Sync [May. 29th, 2006|10:53 am]

Can anyone help/teach me how to do a full tune up and carb sync on a SOHC Honda 550? I'm willing to buy all required tools (and have a well-outfitted shop already) I just need someone to teach me the arcane art of quad-carb syncronization. My bike runs rich as hell right now and I'd like to do something about that.
