TWO WHEELS! KALAMAZOO
Can anyone help/teach me how to do a full tune up and carb sync on a SOHC Honda 550? I'm willing to buy all required tools (and have a well-outfitted shop already) I just need someone to teach me the arcane art of quad-carb syncronization. My bike runs rich as hell right now and I'd like to do something about that.|
tune up? yes..easy enough...carb synch, well if you are running rich, its the mixture, but it never hurts to synch your carbs and set the mixture.i bet they havent been synchronized in a long time.yes i can help with both.
if it makes you feel better,i am a state liscensed master motorcycle mechanic
Do you mind doing it as a teaching thing? I'd like to shoot video of it and post it for the other guys like me out there who have no idea. I know it's not technically HARD to do, but it's fussy, and if not done properly, you can hose your bike in interesting ways.
Give me a call when you get this, 806-9279 :)
You still alive out there?
hah sorry,i forgot about this.i dont know about me doing a video.but i can teach you well enough to make one yourself.yeah,if you buy the gauges i will do yours and teach you in the process, then we can do mine!
I've got a nice comfortable, clean shop to do it in. If you're uncomfortable on camer that's no problem, but there may be a few times where you play the part of my hands or I have you as an off-camera consultant if you'd like.
Ok, so how soon would you like to do this and where can I get a GOOD QUALITY set of gauges?
you want mercury stick gauges.i believe motion pro makes them
$100 a set, I'll get some.
Anything else I need? Special screwdrivers/wrenches/etc?
the motion pro carb mate looks pretty neat too.thats mercury free..
anyways, you may need a pilot screw adjusting tool and a carb adjusting tool.i would recomend an AUX fuel tank also,it makes things easier, since you take the tank off and use the aux, kind of like an IV on a person.
